Understanding the structure and the aims of international organizations and the international system of protection of human rights.

Students will be able to connect socio-economic and political challenges to the appropriate normative framework as well as to the pertinent governance levels and organizations, with special focus on States’ obligations under human rights instruments.

The course will focus on the diplomatic structure of international organizations aimed at protecting international fundamental rights.

Analyzed legal/judicial system:

• UN system; CoE and EU systems; Inter-American system; African system; ILO system

A specific focus will also be made on fundamental freedoms (e.g. “free expression”) and their international definition.

Lectures. Seminars and workshops; Course entirely taught in English.
